Love Albert Road Day

Love Albert Road Day

Note to future Erasmus students: today was apparently an event called 'Love Albert Road Day':
Albert Road is and always has been a bustling, alternative interesting road full of independent small businesses, shops, fantastic cafes, restaurants and pubs, music venues including the world renowned Wedgewood Rooms and the crowning glory, The Kings Theatre which stands as a beacon to all around inviting people to visit our fantastic road.

The shop owners and local residents blend together to create a fantastic community with a bohemian feel, the road is frequented by many musicians, actors, poets and artists. Albert Road has a true feeling of togetherness where schools, businesses the church and different cultures from around the world work and live side by side. It must be the most photogenic road in Portsmouth and has never been manufactured, this is a real road, real people, real Portsmouth.

Love Albert Road Day was started in 2007 with the aim of unifying the local community and bringing awareness of what the street has to offer. The third annual Love Albert Road day will be on Sunday 27th September 2009. This year the event will be called 'Love Albert Road - Love Culture'. We will be celebrating the cultural diversity of the local area through music, art, dance, and cuisine.

Along with performances from local musicians there will be street performances, public art exhibitions, dance, theatre and a wide selection of cuisine that represents all that Albert Road has to offer.
