Shopping spree Topshop |
Today I went to Commercial Road because it was student shop night at Topshop, which means that each student who bought something from 6 pm till 10 pm would get a discount of 20%. Nice! I also discovered that students get a discount of 10% all year round at Topshop. Very nice!
But that’s not the only good thing about Commercial Road. Commercial Road is one of the three main places to shop in Portsmouth. This road is located in the centre of the city and is the home of Portsmouth's 'high street' shopping. The northern end of Commercial Road is regularly used by market traders selling a wide variety of different goods from their stalls. Here you'll find stores such as Primark (which is very cheap), H&M, Top Shop, Poundland (everything for only 1 pound!!), Marks and Spencers, Burton, Argos (a store full with catalogues where you can almost find everything, and I mean literally everything! From kitchen & laundry to sports & leisure to jewellery & watches to even photography, instruments and games. And more!), Republic, New Look and many many more.
The two other main areas to shop are Gunwharf Quays and Albert Road. At Gunwharf Quays you have all kinds of surf and other sport shops like Animal, Vans, O’Neill, Reef, Gul, Rip Curl, Fat Face … but also other fashion shops like Levi’s, Marks & Spencer Outlet, Bench, Calvin Klein, Banana Republic Claire’s, Kipling … Mostly with discounts and stuff, really nice!
There are also a lot of events organised like BMX, Portsmouth Film Festival (@ Vue cinema), fireworks, Italian market… and it’s suitable for a lot of leisure activities like Bowling (Bowplex), art gallery (Aspex), nightclub (Tiger Tiger), fitness (twenty4seven), comedy club (Jongleurs) and first class facilities at the Gunwharf Quays Marina. Albert Road is not only worth checking out when it’s Love Albert Road Day. Here you find fancy (@ Style and the City and Design in Mind), alternative (@ Dress Code) and skate (@ Bored) clothing, a Tiffany’s Florist (where you can’t have breakfast), the Kings Theatre (with shows like Beauty & the Beast and Peter Pan), a lot of laundries, hairdressers, special food restaurants and antiques. You also find a lot of real English pubs – although they don’t all serve English beer – like Little Johnny Russel’s, The Phoenix, The Bold Forester, Goose on the V&A, Leopold Tavern and a lot more.
I should definitely hold a pub crawl in that street.
