Supermarkets in Portsmouth

ASDA

Today i finally went to ASDA because everyone was telling me about how cheap it is and that i definitely had to go there. ASDA is like 'Colruyt' in Belgium (but with a lot more choice), it wants to be the cheapest super market. And it is! All pizza's at £1, a cooked spaghetti for 75 pence and oooh Ben & Jerry's: 2 for only £3! Hmmm

In Portsmouth there's only one ASDA, close to Fratton station and therefore luckily also not so far from my house in Southsea. It's located in a little shopping centre called 'The Bridge'. The Bridge contains a butcher's shop, some clothing stores like New Look and some other shops.

Although the Lidl is much closer for me, i don't mind walking a bit longer to go to ASDA. For those who end up in a hall or house that's not close to ASDA: probably Lidl is the second cheapest in Portsmouth. Also Tesco (which you can compare to the Carrefour) has good prices and a large assortment. I wouldn't recommend you to go to 'The Co-operative' because i think they're the most expensive supermarket (in Portsmouth). But it does stay open till 11 pm! Then again, Lidl stays open till 8 pm, ASDA till 10 pm and Tesco till 11 pm or some even till midnight. They don't have local night shops like in Belgium, but some shops do stay open 24 hours a day like Spar and i think also the Kwiki Mart (like the Kwiki-E-Mart in the Simpsons) on Albert Road and the One Stop (community store) on Highland Road.

There may be even more stores. So if you know more, please comment info about them to inform everyone ;)
