West Wittering

Nic @ West Wittering

Saturday morning around 11 o'clock, too early for me after that fun party last night, Nic from the kitesurf club came and picked me up to make a kitesurf trip to West Wittering. Nic (or Nicholaas) actually has lived in Belgium and in the Netherlands, and is originally from South Africa, so he also speaks Dutch. It was great that he picked me and Rachel up to go with them because it was a good opportunity to see more from England. West Wittering appeared to be very beautiful with lots of little houses by the sea. A lot of people with surf material came to that spot. We first saw mostly windsurfers. It was great to watch them because a lot of the windsurfers did tricks and stuff. A couple of 'brave' surfers tried to catch some waves but the waves weren't exactly big enough to really surf on. Too bad! But what we really came for was to see the others kitesurfing and maybe even learn the basics ourselves. Unfortunately the wind was too heavy so it wasn't so easy for beginners to learn. One of the "pro's" even got a little accident when the wind suddenly came up. When he wanted to show me and Rachel how to use the kite he sudden smashed his whole body against the rocks. Luckily he wasn't hurt very bad, he only bled in his neck and face and felt a bit pain in his legs. Or he just didnt want to show he was hurt because he's a man and men don't have pain you know! :)
